Fulda Gap 1981

PDT FILE CHANGES:
(1) Changed the DAYLIGHT TURN LENGTH from 3 hours to 2 hours.
(2) Changed STACKING LIMITS from 3200 to 600 to more accurately 
protray the forces that would occupy a one mile in diameter hex.
(3) Changed ROAD STACKING LIMITS from 800 to 600.   60 vehicles
occupying 25 meters (10 meters of vehicle plus 15 meters between
vehicles) of road would stretch 1500 meters (1600 meters equal 
one mile).
(4) Changed INFANTRY DEFENSE DEFAULT VALUE from 16 to 20.
(5) Changed defensive modifier for IMPROVED POSITION from 20 to 25.
(6) Changed movement cost for elevation increases from 10 to 6.
(7) Changed terrain modifier for SWAMP from 40 to 30.
(8) Changed terrain modifier for FOREST from 30 to 25.
(9) Changed UNIT STRENGTH RECOVERY from 10 10 to 5 5.
(10) Changed REFUEL PARAMETER from 50 to 75.
(11) Changed AIR STRIKE INTERCEPTION RATING from 15 15 to 25 20.
(12) Changed SAM INTERCEPTION RATING from 20 20 to 10 10.
(13) Change Warsaw Pact AIR INTERDICTION VALUE from 10 to 8.
(14) Changed DECEPTION RANGE RANGE from 5 to 2.
(15) Changed the DECEPTION RANGE VALUES from 5 to 2.
(16) Added NATO DECEPTION VALUES identical to Warsaw Pact values.

CHANGES TO THE AMERICAN FORCES:
(1) Changed the TO&E of all units to that prior to the U.S. Army's 
conversion to Division/Corps '86. 
(2) Incorporated the anti-tank and mortar platoons (from the combat 
support company) to the infantry companies.  Standard operating 
procedure called for the M901s to be assigned to the infantry 
companies.
(3) Converted one infantry company from each division to an 
airmobile company based on the division transport helicopter assets.
(4) Modified the division air defense battalion assets so that the 
Vulcan batteries breakdown into platoons.
(5) Added Chapparal batteries to the air defense battalions.  They 
also breakdown into platoons.
(6) Modified the division engineer battalion so that it is broken 
down into companies (bridging and non-bridging).
(7) Added M107 (175mm) artillery battalions to corps artillery 
formations.
(8) Created Forward Arming and Refueling Points (FARP) for U.S. 
Army aviation units.  Acts as a headquarters unit (with a command 
range of one) for the attack and scout helicopters.  
(9) Created squadron headquarters units for cavalry squadrons.  
This was done to accomodate the cavalry's greater dispersion on 
the battlefield.
(10) Changed the number of aircraft in a flight to 4 depending 
on type of aircraft employed.
(11) Changed the attack values of the aircraft to give a greater
lethality to them.
(12) Changed many units' combat ratings.

WARSAW PACT:
(1) Corrected the TO&E to that as published in draft FM 100-2-3
(TBP FY84) SOVIET ARMY TROOPS ORGANIZATION AND EQUIPMENT, 
Coordinating Draft, August '82.
(2) Changed the motorized rifle battalion so that it can be broken
down into companies.
(3) Changed the tank battalions of the motorized rifle regiments
so that they can be broken down into companies.
(4) Changed the engineer battalions so that the component companies
are used (bridging and non-bridging).
(5) Converted one infantry company from each division to an 
airmobile company based on the division transport helicopter assets.
(6) Removed the assault helicopter companies from the division 
helicopter squadron.  Infantry is not organic to those helicopter 
assets.
(7) Added Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Batteries to the 
regiments which include the SA-9 anti-aircraft missile and ZSU-23-4
anti-aircraft guns.
(8) Changed the number of aircraft in airstrike flights to 10.
(9) Changed the attack values of the aircraft to give a greater
lethality to them.
(10) Changed units' combat ratings.
